Join Daniel Anthony, a renowned activist and community organizer for Hawaii's food sovereignty movement, to experience healing traditions through poi making.

In this workshop you will focus on your presence as key ingredients in the food making process. You will also learn about beneficial Hawaiian microbes and their place in the food system as well as our own place in the food system.

Recently, Daniel pounded 2,000 pounds of taro into poi at the opening day of legislation at the state capital with approximately 2,000 Hawaiian youths. The event was to inspire the youth to become involved in Hawaiian politics and to feel empowered to do so.

Each participant will make approximately 1 pound of hand pounded paiai (the concentrate before it becomes poi) on the same boards used by the Hawaiian youth and experience a part of living Hawaiian history.
Class time devoted to lecture: 11-20 minutes
