An Imu is the traditional Hawaiian cooking pit used to feed Hawaiians for countless generations. Today, it is more commonly associated with parties, but historically, it was the primary cooking practice of the hawaiian people.

Daniel Anthony, renowned activist and community organizer for Hawaii's food sovereignty movement, will bring rocks from his family farm, Mana Aina, to lay the foundation for the Imu.

During the Imu experience, you will learn how to eat from the aina (the land) by understanding the Hawaiian agriculture practices that feed the land and then feed the people.

It will be a vegan imu and then, the imu will open up to cook local fish. This is how, in the olden days, Hawaiian's cooked for large groups of people.

All of the biproduct of the imu, the char, the vegetable matter (tea leaf & banana leaf), will be used as animal food or soil remediation, which will bring back sustenance to Daniel's family farm.

Every person, who participates by eating will help remediate approximately 1 square foot of Mana Aina's farm.

The land needs to eat as much as we do. Abundant land and Abundant people have the same needs and need each other to thrive.
